Hi everyone
husband and I have been seperated for 6 weeks now.
our house has been sold but we are waiting for it to finalise.
so quick question. Once our house is officially sold. Who receives the remaining money if we are both 50/50?
also we have debts together which we both agree need to cleared. However, I don’t trust him with money so how can I assure that the debts would be clear ?

Whatever money comes to your solicitor from the sale of the house, will be used by the solicitor to repay your mortgage.

Whatever is left over from that I presume will be sent 50:50 to each of your nominated individual bank accounts? Ask your legal team for advice about that.

You can then hopefully liaise with your ex to pay off the debts. Let’s hope he’s co-operative or will allow you to take control of getting things settled.

You are married. This means you will conti une to remain financially linked to each other, ie. able to make a claim for each others assets, up and until you get a clean break through a financial order as part of the divorce process.

The solicitor will share the remaining equity of the sale as instructed. It's not for them to deal and manage your debts.
