Is my marriage recignised in UK law?

Just wondered if any legal peeps could answer this.
we got married 25 yrs ago in France. Have the legal
french document but never registered here. I’m now thinking wills and possibly divorce. Do I have any legal rights? Do I register the wedding here? We have lived here since marriage and I’m from the UK

There is no requirement to register a marriage here. I got married in the US in 2017. As long as the marriage meets the legal requirements in the country it takes place then it is legal here.

DH and I got married overseas. Not a destination wedding - we were living overseas at the time.

We had to register the marriage with the British consulate.
