Will a re-registered birth certificate still show the original name? (Section 17 correction)

Any registrars here? My child’s birth was originally registered under one name and later amended via a Section 17 correction, so both the original and corrected names appear on the current certificate. I understand that if the birth is later re-registered to add a father, a new certificate is issued reflecting the updated entry. Can anyone confirm whether, in practice, the original registered name is removed from the new certificate, or does it still remain visible under England & Wales registration rules?

i believe the re-registration to add the child’s father means that your child’s name will be shown as it is on space 17 on the current certificate, so not mentioning the original forename in any way.

Thank you. To clarify, when a birth is re-registered to add the father, the name in space 17 moves to space 2 removing the mention of the original name on the new birth certificate?

I'm a registrar in England. If the birth is re-registered to add the natural father's details, the child's forenames are taken from Space 17, not from Space 2. As someone else mentioned, Space 17 can only be used to change, add or remove a forename, not a surname. Any full birth certificates issued after re-registration will only show the names as previously recorded in Space 17.
