Fact Find - how long to x-examine witnesses?

Hello Have an upcoming fact find. Other side have provided a template on which they require me to enter the timings for cross examining witnesses. I'm LIP. What do I put? Whole day for ex? 1/2 day for police? 1/2 day for their 1 witness and 1/2 day for my one witness? If they enter the same then I guess it would end up collectively as the full week set aside for the hearing? Does that sound right? Anyone been through the process?

Hello, lawyer here. It completely depends how long the whole hearing is, and how many issues you're dealing with for each witness. How many allegations on the schedule?
If it's a fact find on domestic abuse issues is there a reason the court haven't appointed you a QLR? You shouldn't be cross examining your ex yourself if there are allegations of abuse in either direction.

Thank you. 6 day hearing, Yes to both parties having a QLR plus CG counsel in attendance. 18 allegations between both parties. It's a bit like how long is a piece of string but I understand the need for a plan to ensure the hearing doesn't overrun!

If CG is represented to be honest I would ask them to set out their views on witness template as they are likely to be experienced and fair to both parties. In the event that your QLR disagrees at the hearing it can always be adjusted, and bear in mind it's a guideline not a rigid timetable.

If you're having a PTR with the QLRs attending I would suggest responding that you want the QLR to have input and it can be agreed at the PTR.

Thank you very much.
