Faulty washing machine - repair or reject?

I bought a new washing machine this week, delivered and fitted on Friday (I paid for a taking away and fitting the machine service from the shop I bought it from).

It did one wash fine, then has been showing an error code ever since and won’t wash at all.

They will send an engineer but I’m not sure how that affects my rights - I can reject the goods for a refund within 30 days, but does accepting a potential repair in that time change that? I suspect the machine hasn’t been connected up properly to the plumbing in some way (fault showing is water related) but equally could be a more serious fault.

Am I better off simply rejecting it?

thank you

Get a replacement.

It’s very rare that washing machines go wrong that quick, you say error code is water related, so it’s either not taking in enough water or not draining properly. Both of these sound it me like it’s not been fitted properly or taps at rear of washing machines are not tight enough. If your previous W/M worked ok at draining, then I doubt it’s blocked waste pipe.would check with supplier if it effects your rights to ask for a replacement before they send someone out.

As above unlikely to be the machine. More likely to be inexperienced installers. While it’s their issue to fix, I wouldn’t trust getting them back. I would bite the bullet and get a plumber. He can at least confirm and/or fix the issue if it’s external to the machine. If
not then return the machine.

Have you tried to see if it’s something simple. Take a photo and ask ai . You might be able to sort it yourself in a few mins.

Accepting a repair does not take away your right to reject the washing machine and receive a full refund. It actually gives you longer to reject. The 30-day clock stopped when you agreed to accept a repair and won't start running again until they've fixed the fault.

Thank you @prh47bridge that was just what I was after.
