Car sold by garage with outstanding recall

Hi everyone,

I purchased a 2023 Peugeot 208 over the weekend. (PEUGEOT 208 ACTIVE PREMIUM + P-TECH SS according to .gov!) Got home and found out it has an outstanding recall.

I've spoken to the garage who said I'll just have to go to a dealership to get it repaired, which will be free. Which is all well and good, but a blooming faff and time consuming.

Also, they said they'd done a service... However this is not recorded on the Peugeot account I've created. I asked them about it and they said they'd email me evidence. Nothing has come through yet though.

Can anyone advise where I stand legally?

Thanks!

It may well be that services can only be recorded in your Peugeot account by Peugeot dealers. I doubt you will get anywhere with that.

The recall is another matter. It is illegal for a car dealer to sell a car with an outstanding safety recall. You can therefore reject the car and receive a full refund.

Recalls are generally main dealer only anyway. Chances are there's a fairly long waiting list anyway. My last one was 3 month wait.

The service won't show unless main dealer done it surely for it to be on their system? Didn't they stamp the book.
