If he's not responding to his solicitor what happens

Trying to divorce stbxh. I've provided all my financial documentation but radio silence from him to his solicitor and very little from his solicitor to mine. Can anyone explain what happens next and what it will mean for me? I'm very worried about how much it will cost if he drags this out. We didn't have a huge amount to argue over so I don't want to waste it on legal fees as I need to get myself and our child set up with new accommodation when we sell our old house which he's now living in alone.

My solicitor sent his an email saying if they hadn't replied/started co operating by x date, we would have to initialise court proceedings. Thankfully the threat worked, although he was still super slow and awkward throughout. I spent more in solicitor fees chasing for him to reply than anything else. Good luck.

What does initiating court proceedings actually mean in real time though? What does that look like if he's not engaging with anything? And what will the cost of that be to me? Or can he be held liable for costs if he's holding it all up?

Talk to your Solicitor

Basically you want to move as fast as reasonably possible with or without his cooperation but without incurring excessive costs
