How long to receive a a youth court summons?

Unfortunately my child has been charged with something, alongside others.

We are now awaiting the youth court summons. It's been a week and nothing has arrived yet. How long does it usually take? When do I start chasing for information?

I have to put in for leave at work and possibly arrange additional childcare for my other children. Plus inform the solicitor and my child's support worker.

Oh just to warn you - if his crime is serious he may have to go to court, then do a pre sentencing report and then go back to court again. That’s if it’s magistrates based. If he’s sent to Crown Court for a more serious crime (violence, rape, sexual assault, manslaughter etc) then he will have to go to court and then you may be waiting up to a year for sentencing. Don’t expect this to be a quick process. I’m sorry. If it’s Mag court it could be over in 3-4 months.

Has he definitely been charged or has he been arrested and released under investigation?

The arrest wasn't recent, this is after a cps investigation. Already have a solicitor thankfully. This is a youth court case so should be quicker than adults.

Definitely been charged. It's come from the cps.
One charge is due to being there in the room, but police have admitted wasn't part of the actual assault. Other charge, shouldn't have been charged with as was cleared with this in the interview .

Court summons is for a plea hearing. It's not been a short process anyway. It's been awful. It's taken a long time just to even get to this point due to police failings.
