Just this really..

I'm in the process of gathering evidence from the courts and police to support my application for Legal Aid on the grounds of domestic violence.

I understand that victims of domestic violence can be eligible for legal aid.
All the hoops to jump through (well, at least on the gov.uk guidance about applying for legal aid) seem totally overwhelming and endless. The bureacracy around it seems unduly uncomplicated and longwinded.

I guess I'm just looking for reassurance that there might be some light at the end of the tunnel!

Hi OP, well done on taking that step first of all.

There are rules on entitlement to legal aid due to domestic violence but there ate lots of agencies who can provide evidence for you. As long as you’ve spoken with one of those agencies about the issues in real time you should not have an issue. The issues mainly arise whereby nothing was said at the time so there is no “evidence” and then months or years down the line someone wants to apply only their word x

I went through something similar and getting hold of police logs, GP notes, and any non‑mol orders made the biggest difference for my Legal Aid application. I also asked the police for a full incident history, which they gave me after a bit of nudging. Speaking with an Indianapolis domestic violence attorney once helped me understand what kind of evidence really matters, even though I’m not in the US.

Yes. My solicitor tagged it onto the child proceedings
