Hi - i took too long to take some money from a cashpoint (inside a supermarket), and the money got sucked back in. I raised an issue with the bank who said it would take 14 days to liaise with the owner of the cash machine. They have now said if it doesnt work out in my favour, i should contact the citizens advice or speak to the owner of the cashpoint. I would like the bank to sort it out. Im worried i wont get the money back. It's not a huge amount but i just dont think its fair.

Surely it just gets credited back to your account?

It does

Whaaattt? Surely it has gone straight back in your account?

Yes, as pp have said, if the money gets tucked back in, your account will be recredited. I'm always curious though how you can be standing in front of a cashpoint and take too long to grab the cash! What happened?

I can depend on the type of machine. If it's in/on your bank, it usually gets instantly recredited. If it's a third party machine it can take longer and your bank may need to contact the machine owner to resolve.

You've said they're already doing this so hopefully it'll work out.

This happened to me once and it was credited back to my account almost instantly

You need to wait for the bank to go through its checking processes and when they're done, they will refund you. i.e. exactly what the bank told you.

I’ve had this happen took about 10 days to credit my account.

Something to do with balancing the cash machine before they would.

Annoying….my fault though I forgot to take the cash and walked away - then returned to see it being swallowed back up by the machine!

So it wasn't credited so i flagged it. It's not a bank cashpoint, just one in a supermarket. The reason I'm worried as it's now approaching 12 days, and the bank haven't heard back from the cashpoint owner. The bank then said to me if it doesnt go my way, then I should contact the citizens advice or the cashpoint owner myself. Hoping it gets resolved but worried it wont

I was fumbling in my bag for one of those card protector wallets, can't have been that long then it got sucked in!
