My lease car broke after half a mile

Our new hybrid lease car got delivered yesterday morning - 4 hours later I drove to DC’s school half a mile away. Driving out of car park the car lost power, had to slowly roll it back down the hill as steering locked and shortly after all the electrics packed in. That was after hours yesterday so I had to leave it there and couldn’t speak to lease company till today. Out came the RAC and couldn’t fix it. It finally got taken on a truck back to dealer tonight at 6pm. We weren’t able to request a hire car until the tow had happened so now we can’t pick up until 9am tomorrow. My DH now has to get a train to Scotland from England first thing tomorrow at short notice as he’d planned to drive - £150 - who is liable for the whole breakdown shiz? Is it pie in the sky to think they could compensate for this? DH has been doing the phone calls and he’s none the wiser. Such a massive pain!!

What maje was the car? JLR?
Why have they not immediately given you another car to use?

It’s a Kia sportage. Had to get RAC out to see if they could fix it then when they couldn’t had to wait overnight for it to be collected on a lorry. They arrived 4pm next day. They wouldn’t issue courtesy car until it was confirmed a dud and collected. Meantime DH had to be in Scotland. They’ve given us courtesy now and we ‘may’ get ours back next Wednesday. Lease company asking Kia apparently about compensation for rail travel.
