Daughter waiting 6 months and still hasn’t been paid out from insurance

Daughter still hasn’t been paid out for her car even though she provided her neighbours ring doorbell of it being stolen in the middle of the night.the insurance keep saying they are waiting for a police report , is this the norm these days

That seems long. We had a new car in less than a month when ours was stolen. Have you chased?

We have chased it up every week by phoning the insurance but they are adamant they will only pay out once they have the police report which I think is ridiculous as all she did was phone the police and they gave her a crime number , they didn’t come out to her .it was stolen in sept last and she is using my car in the meantime which impacts me., didn’t know if this is normal or not

That’s not normal. Urgh! My db worked in insurance for many years and he picked up lots of slack from staff who wouldn’t finish their cases. I’d be lodging a complaint with them. You’ve given the crime number to them and it’s up to them to chase the police if they want an in depth report.

Is it a high value car?

Has your daughter been in contact with the police at all? If not, I'd suggest she contacts them - if the insurer thinks they are investigating but actually there's no action being taken then they'll be waiting a long time for something that's not going to materialise

She has been in contact with the police and has asked for freedom of in formation to be sent to her as they wasn’t helpful and are snowed under with cases
