Is this legal? Used car buyer

We've recently bought a used a car and as a cash buyer so didn't need any financial products. Dealer told us we had to listen to their finance man about financial products he could sell us, as it's a legal requirement.

Can anyone confirm this? If so, which law is it?

Thanks

Utter bollocks. He was hoping you would take out finance because they make more money that way. I once had a 2nd hand car dealer refuse to sell me a car for cash at the price advertised on his forecourt as he would only sell the car on finance for that very reason.

It's Bollox.

Either he hopes to sell you finance or 'add ons' like Gap Insurance or his advisers a absurdly cautious about the risk of you suing him becuase you'd have been better off financing the car.

That can happen if there's a discount or other incentive with finance that you'd still get if you cleared it lickety-split.
