Too much noise in new build home from heating.

We have a heat pump system. Unlike a gas boiler system it is meant to run at all times. Some of the equipment is in the garage, which is under the master bedroom. It comes on at random times, more frequently when the weather is cold. We haven't slept in the master bedroom since early autumn last year because the noise from below became intolerable. That rooom is just a dressing room to us now.

The builder's attitude is that all building regulations have been met and is not willing to do anything.

Does anyone here have any success at getting a builder to rectify an issue such as this, or do you have expert knowledge of arguments that could be used to encourage the builder to take action?

But they are noisy... especially in winter.

Have you checked the decibel level?

Is it a new build under warranty?

can you put sound insulation in the ceiling of the garage? Or under the bedroom floor.

also, can you put rubber casters under any feet of the machine that touch the garage floor to stop them rattling / transmitting the vibrations.
