Legal matters

Mumsnet has not checked the qualifications of anyone posting here. If you have any legal concerns we suggest you consult a solicitor.

Does anyone know of a property law forum?

Similar to mumsnet but specifically dealing with law/property law.

I have an urgent issue that I need advice on but I don't want to be identified on here.

Thank you

I doubt such a forum exists - if you need legal advice about your specific issue you need to talk to a solicitor.

I volunteered with Citizens Advice, I can’t tell you how many callers start with “I’m just looking for some legal advice about….”. We always emphasised that all we can give is information, which you can also find on the website.

Noone should ever take legal “advice” about their own circumstances from anyone except directly from a qualified and insured professional.

What sort of property? There's LandlordZone for anything to do with rented property and Garden Law for anything to do with, you guessed it, gardens (but also boundaries etc).

The issue I have is that I live in a different country from the property that I want advice about so I can't just pop to a local solicitor.

Or do you think a local solicitor could offer advice but just wouldn't be able to act on my behalf?

It would help enormously if you were to identify the country where the property is. there are hundreds of different legal jurisdictions in the world. 3 alone in the UK.

Also, I'm assuming it's one of the UK home countries, otherwise why ask on a UK message board?

There is a good site called legal beagles not specifically property but it is run by legal advisors
