Change of Land registry documents following probate

I am an executor of a will for an unmarried couple who jointly owned a property with 50/50 share.
One partner has died and probate has been completed. 50% of the property has been put into trust in the deceased partner's name.
The solicitors have quoted me almost £1000 for changing the land registry title. Does this seem reasonable for a property outside London? And is it really necessary when all that would need to be changed is adding the word trust to the deceased partner's name? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

@catndogslife that sounds a lot, unless this would be a first registration.

May I suggest you go to the MSE forum https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/categories/deaths-funerals-probate Start a thread and copy in the the Land Registry contact by typing @landregistry. They are an official representative that has been accredited by MSE and I am sure they can assist you with the forms etc.

The other option is to phone Land Registry’s Customer Support Centre
006 0411 0300 006 0411. They are usually very helpful.

Thanks @Sisterpita that looks helpful.
It isn't a first registration.

If the property is registered in their joint names, and one has died, then the only usual update is to notify us of the death - use our online assisted guidance
In most cases like this they will have registered a form A restriction on the register to confirm the 50/50 split and the ‘trust’ - check the register to confirm if you haven’t done so already
I’ll look out for your post on MSE
