I came across videos on my ex-boyfriend's laptop where I discovered that I was being filmed without my consent. This happened a while ago, but it has been weighing heavily on my mind and I feel scared and unsure about what to do next.

What's even more distressing is that I found videos of other girls who also seemed unaware of being filmed. This revelation has deeply shaken me, especially because I had been in love with him for years and considered him my best friend. Despite feeling confused, shocked, and violated, I still find myself caring for him despite his betrayal.

I am struggling to figure out the next steps to take and how to process my emotions. While I don't wish any harm upon him, it's clear that he doesn't care about me. Additionally, he is currently involved with someone else, which adds to my confusion and uncertainty about what to think or do.

I would appreciate any information or support anyone can provide. Are there any charities I can reach out to for help or any legal advice that I should consider seeking?

If that's the case, call the police and say that situation. He recorded you, you don't have access to it, tell them where he is and where it might be.

Don't downplay this... this is a terrible violation!

He is kind of in the public light. Hence also why i feel like it could potentially blow up. Which I am scared of.

But you will be anonymous. He needs stopping now

pontipinemum · 01/09/2023 20:48

I would report him. He is probably still has your videos saved and has new ones.

I'd pour petrol over his laptop and set it alight ( outside obviously) 😡

He may have backed up to the cloud

Katrinawaves · 01/09/2023 20:53

Please don’t worry that you will be identified if this “blows up” because he is in the public eye. As the victim of a sexual offence you will be given anonymity in the press and in any court reporting.

Have a look at the case of Jeffrey Anderson in Northern Ireland - you’ll find it online. Exact same thing - gf found out and then police found footage of other women on his laptop. He was also somewhat in the public eye, but despite being found guilty it didn’t stop him going on to flash at young school girls. What your ex has done may be just the beginning. He a sexual deviant and a danger to women.

Just because his face is in them means nothing. He can edit that video to blur his face elsewhere and then post. Or share with others.

Either way you've told us about a man who has committed a criminal offence. I'm sure it's classed as a sex offence (you guys can correct me if I'm wrong).

Behaviour like this only escalates. You have no idea how much more he may have. Or how many innocent women are being filmed right now without knowing. You can put a stop to this.
Phone the police. Tell them everything.

Newnamefor23 · 01/09/2023 21:14

Faces can be blurred out. I think you need to act.

It could be deleted from his laptop - but does he have a cloud backup?

All the best with this.

do you rmeember the recent case of stephen bear?

he got prison for it-dont detroy anything dont give him the heads up just go to the police they will go and take the laptop

prh47bridge · 01/09/2023 21:33

Regardless of whether the videos have been posted online, he is guilty of voyeurism. If he has posted them online that is another offence. Report him to the police.

ElizaWinter · 01/09/2023 21:39

If you talk to him he might delete them to get rid of the evidence but that doesn't mean he hasn't shared them. Report to the police.
