Company Lawyer recommends pl (housing industry) SE England

I am wondering please if anyone can recommend a company lawyer with experience in the housing industry.
Its for a friend whose housebuilder developer wants to turn their investment capital into a loan and only pay them interest rather than a share of the profit and is withholding their investment funds until they agree. It doesn't sound legal...but they want to speak to someone to check.
SE England would be best if possible.
Thanks in advance.

They need a lawyer to look at the contract. Not an in house lawyer. A lawyer with experience of investments and contracts would be fine. What was agreed and possible remedies is what is needed.

Sorry: not a company lawyer. Business investment and contract law.,

Thanks TizerorFizz - it seems I have used the wrong term so that's a helpful start thank you as I will stop saying company lawyer! I think I meant a lawyer familiar with company law. Unfortunately, it was a friendship gone sour - I don't think there was a contract as such just a 10 year plus history of projects together where profit was split 50/50.

I might be able to help, or refer you to someone in my firm. I do company law, though on the non-contentious side. I have colleagues who deal with company law disputes. I'll DM you now (if I can work out how!).

@IamfeelingConfusedLots of solicitors have business solicitors who can advise. Just look for one that says they have business expertise. Even if it’s not in writing, there was an understanding when the money was invested. However it’s a lesson: don’t invest without a written agreement.

Thanks - although it was not me -genuinely for a friend. Thankfully investment request was in writing.

my son-in-law does property development and routinely uses Fladgate (London on Queen St.)
i'm always amazed at some of the complex and strange documents that they sort though and organize for him.

If this was money invested as capital in a limited company then there would also be the company's "articles of association" which set out the shareholders' rights. Even if no articles were agreed expressly there are default articles (the Model Articles).
