Faulty boiler in new house

We moved house last month and within a few days the boiler broke down. Our solicitor advised us that because it had happened within 5 days the seller was liable for the repair. We had an engineer out who advised the boiler needed to be replaced but the seller then sent their own engineer out who said it was fixable and then did the work that was needed.

That was 3.5 weeks ago and the same problem has happened with the boiler again tonight.

Does anyone know where we stand with this? If the original issue has not been rectified then do we go back to the seller via our solicitor? The engineer who did the work will not reply to our messages asking him to come back out. I’m so stressed with this. We’ve got no heating or hot water!

What country are you in? (England, Scotland, etc.)

Sorry should have said, we’re in Scotland!

Just bumping for anyone who may be able to help. We’ve had another engineer out tonight who has said it definitely needs replacing!
