Can the court issue a duplicate for a lost contact order

I am renewing my daughter's passport and need to send in court orders it seems. When I looked for the original version of the contact order made over a decade ago, I couldn't find it! I have photocopies but not the original.

Would anyone know if there is any way for me to obtain a copy from the court?

A photocopy should do. The court only sends out PDFs of orders these days anyway.

@Collaborate thank you so much for replying! The document list said they would only accept originals and I have to post them. No option to provide a digital copy 😞 I’ve contacted the court to ask if they can help with a copy but not sure how long that will take. I’m freaking out because my ex has informed me he plans to take our child away in March during a contact period and will go absolutely insane if I don’t have her passport.

Why are you going through the aggro if your ex wants to take her on holiday? He can do it, can’t he?

@Ihatethenewlook because I hold her passport as resident parent, it’s the only way to stop him taking her out of the country without my knowledge. Because of this he considers me responding to pay all the costs / manage the renewals in such a way to ensure a valid passport is available as / when he wants.

But you’re going to have to give him her passport so he can leave the country with her. He may refuse to give it back? I don’t see how that makes a difference to who has to chase up paperwork. Presumably he has as much right to request a copy of the contact order as you do. He can consider you responsible for all he likes, it doesn’t mean you are. I’d be telling him to provide the paperwork and money and then you’ll apply.

@Ihatethenewlook After 12 years, I’ve learnt it’s easier to do it myself / pay than endure another round of letters from his lawyer. Yes he could do all you mention but he won’t, it will be a whole big drama instead.

If he doesn’t return the passport I cancel it, that’s the deal.. per the order he can’t take her abroad without my written consent.
