What should I do? What would you honestly do?

Yesterday I walked out of a supermarket without paying. I scanned everything through on a Self scan till, scanned my points card, tapped my bank card and walked out. Today I checked my bank and saw the tap was declined so no money left my account. I didn't steal as it wasn't done dishonestly but still I didn't pay.

To be honest if I can get away without paying it would be super helpful atm especially with the cost of living and Christmas.

What would you guys do??????

I would phone the store. Offer to pay. They may well refuse the offer but then your conscience would be clear.

I'd be scared I was on cctv or their computer has registered my identity from the points card & the fact I didn't pay. I'd go back & explain. Grudgingly.

I wouldn’t worry about it. I would just keep the items but be more careful next time to check the transaction went through ok.

How much was it?

If you're on CCTV it will show you at the till with your card anyway. If it was me, I wouldn't go back.

Well if I did this I wouldn't even know. I don't have banking on my phone and have to log in on the computer so only do it about once a month. I don't do big supermarket shops either, just get a bag full every 5-7 days so I wouldn't miss one.
It might still go through so don't spend it just yet😉

Do they have a face camera at the till? If so you probably can't go there ever again if you don't own up.

If it's Tesco, don't do anything. You can use the credit that's on my account from every time those fuckers have overcharged me from Point of sale pricing being below what they actually charge, and my only chance to rectify it is to stand in the customer services queue for half an hour. Fuckers. Keep it.

Pretend you didn't even check your online banking and move on

I think it would be best to phone customer services and explain rather than worry that they are going to come after you because of the CCTV or feel you can never go in there again. They'll probably log your details and that'll be the end of it.

Go elsewhere for a few weeks in case they remember you 😀

I’d definitely call them and explain and go from there. And not because I am a saint but because all the shops I go to, I use regularly and I couldn’t show my face agains having know I’d done that and not tried to correct it
