Is not turning up to do a job breach of contract?

Friend has a cleaner, signed a contract to say that 4 weeks notice was required to end the cleaning contract.

Friend queried something they did last time (left a mess, a door open when they left) and they've not turned up since!

If they don't turn up next time, this will be 4 weeks since the last time they cleaned. Does she have to give them notice (& pay) or can she say they've breached their contract by not showing up and just ask for her key back?

Is the cleaner self-employed or an employee?

Has your friend tried to contact the cleaner to see why they aren't turning up?

It's a cleaning company.

She's tried to contact the person in charge, but they're not replying.
