Hello,

Just after some advice please. My sister lives in the US and has suggested getting a mortgage with me in the uk (I live here). She's a high earner in America with a green card but a uk citizen. Does anyone know if that's possible please?

I'll ring the bank tomorrow but wondered if anyone knew tonight!

Thank you

It's worth asking a mortgage broker rather than a specific bank.
Does she have a credit record and bank account in the UK?

There are stamp duty implications for buying with someone who is not resident so you may need to factor that in. It’s a residence test not a citizenship one.

Sister is liable to paying USA tax so it's possible bank won't want to touch her (due to reporting to US tax authorities requirements).

You can but ask!! Might need a specialist broker help find a good product.
