International divorce and financial settlement in the uk

Help please: I was granted divorce that I filed in a foreign country (back home). Can my ex still file for financial settlement here in the UK knowing we didn’t get married in the uk, we never had any joint accounts and our marriage was very short (less than 2 years due to domestic abuse, etc.). He is not from the UK and never worked in the UK. We are not from the same country. We have 1 child (British) and dad is applying for contact only when his visa was about to expire - then he made a human rights application to settle in the uk. His status in the UK is pending the outcome of FC per contact. Please advise as to now that divorce took place in another country, whether ex can apply for the financial settlement. I want to buy a house and just start a new chapter in my life, can he come and ask for half of the house? Thx

He may be able to, yes. That doesn't necessarily mean he will get anything from you. The length of a marriage is a factor the courts take into account in determining the financial split.
