Wills? How long for beneficiary to hear?

My grandad died a few months ago. I know he had a will in which he left a small amount of money to me and to one of my children.

The will was written while he had dementia but apparently was all legal anyway. It was written following a fall out with my parents (caused by his dementia, but that's another story) and my parents were written out. He later regretted writing them out but couldn't change it then as his dementia was more advanced.

His power of attorney etc was given to my uncle who lives abroad and doesn't really communicate with anyone else in the family. He is the main beneficiary. My parents aren't contesting anything as the relationship broke down completely between them and my grandad.

Should I have heard something by now?

You dint have to be informed of anything till they distribute the will. They call it 'the probate year' so you could be awhile yet.
