Any solicitors around? Can you tell me if this is a fair price?.

I'm selling a small retail business, i will be ending my lease as new owner has negotiated a new one with landlords, and will have a contract of sale. Solicitor quoted £1-1.5k does that sound about right?

Difficult to say without knowing things like value of the business, complexities like staff members, stock to deal with etc.

Fredoftheforest · 13/09/2021 13:49

Honestly I doubt anybody can tell you that. If you want to check it, give the same details to another solicitor and ask for their quote.

Imtoooldforallthis · 13/09/2021 13:54

That's the only details I've given to mine, cost of business 40k plus stock at value, no staff, sole trader.

Sounds reasonable then. I'd always try and get 2 or 3 quotes if you can and ideally a recommendation.

Prices also vary widely depending on location.

Sounds like a bargain for sale of a business and surrender of a lease.

Imtoooldforallthis · 13/09/2021 14:11

Thank you if that sounds reasonable that's all I wanted to know.

It sounds very reasonable - I'd expect to pay at least £650 plus VAT for surrender of lease alone

That sounds reasonable to me
