Moving into new apartment. Can I put a new toilet seat on?

A but random, but I have just signed a lease on an apartment and the lease states that I can't make any permanent changes without landlord's permission.
However I don't want to have to ask if I can put a new toilet seat on as it seems silly to ask when it is for hygiene purposes. Surely most people do this when they move into a new property?
Should I ask or just go ahead and change it?
TIA

You can replace with an identical one, surely? We changed the loo seat in a couple of previous rentals, ll never complained.

Conditions like that need to be taken with a pinch of salt as they refer more to structural changes. Loo seats are easily changed. If you want to buy something fancy or extreme just keep the old one and put it back when you leave.

I have never changed the loo seat in a rental property. But if I did want to, I would just go ahead and do it.

Replace it and put the old one in a bag, safe.
Swop back when you leave? Can’t see a problem. (Unless like me you would forget to do so).

If you are keeping the old one, sterilise it hard before packing it away!

As a LL I don't think I'd complain unless it created a big colour mismatch in my bathroom.

If in doubt, clean the old one and put it in the back of the deepest cupboard or shed. Don't bother to replace when leaving, if the LL asks, tell him where the old one is.
