Applying for Deputyship but don't have details of DM's bank accounts for the application form

DM was detained under section 2 of the mental health act yesterday. She'll be in hospital for at least 28 days. She's been unwell for months now but it's taken a lot of begging, pleading, pestering and nagging to get our concerns taken seriously so it's only now that I can say she's lacking capacity to manage her affairs and make decisions.

I don't have power of attorney as DM kept putting it off every time I brought it up. She's always been very private and secretive even before she got sick. I want to apply for deputyship from the Court of Protection so I can manage her affairs but I'm supposed to list all of her bank and building society accounts and I don't have this information. I know who she has accounts with but not the sort codes or account codes or some of the account types.

I don't live in my hometown anymore. I'm in the NW ahd DM is in the SE. I could travel down and root through all her paperwork but her flat is a mess. She's not the sort of hoarder with towers of newspapers going up to the ceiling like you'd see on a Channel 5 documentary, but every bit of floor and all the surfaces, cupboards, wardrobes etc. are covered or crammed with stuff. There are hundreds of letters, open and unopened, and it would take a long time to sort through. DSis has had a go and gave up pretty quickly!

Can anyone think of another way that I can get hold of her account numbers? I doubt the banks will give me the details if I contact them as I don't have any official permission to act on her behalf. I know it can take months to get a deputyship set up so just wondering if there's some way to get the information without wading through years of post.
