Small Claims Court - Hairdresser

Hi,

I'll try to keep it short, I paid a hairdresser last sept 2020 after a consultation for a hair topper, to cover my thinning hair. She had great reviews, local to me & was very helpful. We arranged an appointment for the fitting of the topper, but come Oct 2020 she said she had covid symptoms. We rearranged again but due to lockdown it was cancelled. Once she reopened I contacted her several times by direct message on Instagram & heard nothing. I knew she was still trading, as she was putting pictures up of her work. I have her mobile number, so have since contacted her a few times by this & have not heard anything back. I can see the messages have been delivered and read.
My question is, would I be able to take this through small claims court. As I have asked for a refund, I don't believe she has even made my topper, as she did say she would send photos of the progress & I hadn't received any. I paid her almost £400 plus appointment deposits. I'm not sure what my next step could be?
Many thanks

I would say you need to write to her first demanding a full refund by X date or you will take it to a small claims court. Get all your evidence before you do this though!
Most courts will want to see a reasonable attempt for you do settle out of court before they’ll entertain I guess.

Google "Letter before Action" for a template. Has she even made it yet?
