IS THIS LEGAL IN UK FOR DIVORCE??

Hi,

I just wanted to know if the marriage certificate below is valid for divorce in the U.K.?

Separated in 2012.

Not entirely sure but I got divorced in the Dominican Republic and the requirements at the time meant that a judicial divorce was recognised in the UK. I.e. we went in front of a judge but if we hadn’t it wouldn’t of been legal here.

So did you attend court or get divorced remotely?

If that is a valid marriage certificate and you were legally married in Bangladesh you can use it to get a divorce in the UK.If that is a valid marriage certificate in Bangladesh and your marriage was lawful in Bangladesh then yes, you can use it to get divorced in the UK.

Hi the marriage is was not registered in the U.K. and the Bangladeshi marriage was a religious ceremony. Can it still be valid for U.K. divorce?

If that is a valid marriage certificate in Bangladesh then yes, it is still valid for UK divorce. All that matters is that the marriage certificate is valid and that your marriage was lawful. The marriage does not need to be registered in the UK. The courts don't care whether you were married in a religious ceremony or a civil one as long as you were legally married in Bangladesh.
