I have been in top one for 20 odd years. I have always paid my way
and done my share I have also provided a reputable builder who is so good he never needs to advertise. The owners of the other flats have all without exception years of property experience compared to me.
More recently the ground floor changed hands and it was decided to do an exterior renovation. My builder was not used as "it would take too long" so another unknown quantity was chosen who did a bodge job
The new owner was not only planning to move on but later I found out
he was pally with the cowboy builder so the cheapest possible job was done so they could sell asap. A new guy moved in
The BTL guy was hardly involved as he is away I had to drag him there
to see the work. Obviously I could see areas not done but hey ho
I got 2 other builders and yes there were concerns
2 years later I receive email/photo from BTL stating drips in his kitchen ceiling all caused by water from my flat and it was my fault,
Of course his tenant complained ; An agreement was reached to redo all but as he was only hurrying to do a bit of his (which was causing the leak and was clear negligence by the builder)
However he insisted ing the rest of the work at the start of the lockdown A mix up occurred due the actions of the others and I got access but not all the work was done. His leak appears to have been fixed but I have still been threatened and blamed. Incidentally I was expected to
deal with the builder in covid whilst the other 2 sat cosily at home.
I was by then self-isolating and worried about my health. No chance of getting to the bank but eventually I managed to pay by cheque.
This has been held against me.
The way these people communicate is repeatedly texting and emailing. eg 2 texts and a nasty letter put through the door within a few days concerning a minor matter. Nothing else to do?
They say I should show more concern for the BTL guy. I do. I have been polite to his sometimes nauseating snotty tenants and as he is far away have been on site in the case of emergency.
During the water ceiling family came to help . No thank you was ever given. One of the relatives is young and can hardly walk . Where is their concern for me being older with this sick youngster who is in and out of hospital?
