Royal Mail left latop with someone who opened the door to my block of flats. Not sure who

I live in a block of 8 flats. I bought a refurbished laptop which was supposed to be delivered last Wednesday and never arrived. No calling card left. I have received a reply back from Royal mail today and they have said that the driver was about to leave a calling card when an older woman came to the door and he gave the laptop to her. I only just found this out. I have two neighbours in their 50s in this flat and they have said they were not in Thursday morning. Basically Royal Mail have said that it was delivered and that’s it. The laptop was from Currys and they asked me to contact Royal Mail last week when I did a web chat. I am so shocked.

Does anyone know what my rights are. I can’t believe that I can just lose £300 like this and no laptop. I was home and the post man didn’t even ring the bell.

Was it signed for or a photo taken?

Sent too soon sorry. Royal Mail are only supposed to deliver to the correct address so check delivery address from Currys then contact Royal Mail complaints

Good luck. You must be so angry and upset Thanks

Where I live it is a house converted to a block of flats. Apparently the woman who took the laptop said Oh is that for number 6 I'll take it. That is so ridiculours as no one other than DH and myself knew that a laptop had been ordered so not sure how that could have happened. I have complained to Currys but they take 14 days to investigate.
I am shocked that Royal Mail have basically fobbed me off with a poor reply. I was in and waiting for the delivery!

I would say that your contract is with Curry's, that is who you have paid for the laptop, therefore Curry's should refund or provide you an alternative.

Your contract is with Currys. Their contract is with Royal Mail. You don't have a claim against Royal Mail but Currys might.

It's Curry's issue and they need to provide you with a new laptop and take the issue up with Royal Mail.
