I feel very bad for having to ask such a question, but is there a way of finding out if someone has passed away please?
I can't be specific about why I need this information, but it is with good reason.
I believe that If the person has passed away, it would have been in the 🇬🇧

I know the person's full name, last address, name of spouse etc.
I don't have a date of birth or death (if applicable)
I have searched every death notice, the govnt website, obituaries etc all to no avail.
I am pretty sure that the person would have left a Will so I have searched the wills and probate websites, all to no avail.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

Look up their death certificate?

Kinneddar · 08/10/2020 22:10

If you've drawn a blank after all those searches would that not suggest theyre still alive then

Peacefulnight · 08/10/2020 22:17

The person would be into their late 90's or even 100's by now and as far as I know, in poor health 20 or so years ago.

Could you contact the registry office where you last knew them to live and enquire about a death certificate?

MadameMaxGoesler · 09/10/2020 16:31

The Ancestry website holds Civil Registration death Index records up to 2007 if you think they may have died before then.

Maybe look up the Electoral Register to see this dear old soul is still around?

I had someone's death confirmed by the police when I rang them on 101 (I think) and then the coroners office over the phone - I knew their date of birth, NI number, approximate and recent previous address etc.. I'd just been told by their friend they were dead but didn't know if it was true.

I know there was an upcoming inquest into their death, but I've never asked about the outcome of it l. It was a couple of years ago that they died; I've never found anything online about them though.

Good luck finding out either way.

They’ve been recently updated and some go up to last year (although not all areas).
