Didn’t tax car at start of coronavirus and don’t receive letter - will I get a fine??

I’ve not received a tax reminder letter this year.I pay my tax usually for 6 month so twice a year. I haven’t driven since lockdown was declared and having looked up my number plate ( I know my MOT was due sometime during lockdown) mortified to see my tax was due 1st April! Have had to use my V5 to tax car online and even though I haven’t driven since March 21st, that’s 4 months of missed car tax! Normally I’d have been on the ball but because I’ve not driven anywhere and no letter I’ve not thought to check - my car doesn’t even start now, needs a new battery and is just sat on driveway!
Will I be fined and should I contact DVLA to explain and apologise??

I’d ring them up and grovel. You’re supposed to declare your car off road by SORN if you’re not going to use it ....otherwise you have to tax it. Maybe if you apologise they’ll let you back pay the tax? Or even do a retrospective SORN? Although the latter is unlikely as you can’t prove you haven’t driven it.
