When does the ‘employee consultation’ officially start in redundancy...electing of reps, or first rep meeting?

I’m about to be made redundant at 6 months pregnant, so trying to get all my ducks in a row.

5,000 employees will be made redundant from my company, so there is a 45 day consultation period by law. Does that start from the start of the electing of employee reps? Or is it once they have had their first meeting?

My company have said it’s from the beginning of electing the employee reps for the consultation process, which I don’t think is right.
