Hundreds of pounds of dodgy charges on mobile data!

I had a mobile data contract for a work computer (self-employed). I cancelled it but the provider continued to charge me. We've resolved this and they have repaid me for the data, but it emerged that there were also hundreds of pounds of charges for a porn subscription service! They advised me to contact the firm directly regarding refunding this, and hinted that it is dodgy! I haven't subscribed to this, and no one else has access to the device (password protected). In fact the device has been out of commission for almost the whole time charges were being made.

I emailed the customer service dept of the dodgy company. Unsurprisingly no reply.

Wondering if the mobile company has some responsibility? The bill only says something like "non contracted charges", so I thought it was data or itunes.

What could my next steps be? I'm reluctant to give away hundreds of pounds to this dodgy company. Not uk based, so hard to pursue.
