Owed pay by employer, worried it's lost for good

Looking for someone's help because I don't know where else to turn to for help and I'm worried our money is long lost now.

Long story short, DP was made redundant early November. His employer has lied to all employees and they didn't even know the company was going into administration until its happened that day. He's done his claim for money owed to the government which he's received. However, he received over £1K less that he should have (this was also confirmed by the administrators) and when approached, the redundancy services said that this is the most they can legally pay because apparently the company legally went into administration on 28th October(funny enough the employees didn't even know...). DP contacted his old HR from the company and he said that that's correct and they started trading as a different company name from 28th October with hope that that will solve their financial problems but that didn't work out and nothings happened with that. He is now owed over £1K between 28th Oct and to when they were pronounced insolvent. Where do we go? The new company name that they started trading as are not in business, it's just empty offices now and he's sent at least 7 messages to his old HR to see when and how he can claim his money owed who is now ignoring him and will not answer texts or calls. I'm desperate, please someone give me some advice on how we can get this money as I'm sure it's illegal to not be paid for what you've worked? Thanks all in advance

Aren’t the administrators responsible for paying the wages once a company is in administration? Should be a lot more information about this if you do a quick google.

The administrators are responsible for paying outstanding wages.

Contact the administrators

The administrators are responsible for paying outstanding wages.

Only if there's any money left.
