URGENT: She has a new UK visa; is her old one still valid?

Hello,
Mum applied for a two year visa about 3 weeks ago as she wanted to come visit me here in February and stay for a few months. When she applied, she still had a valid UK visa expiring in March 2020. Now she's been issued with a visa starting in January 2020 and her old visa has NOT been cancelled. Now she wants to visit the UK in December instead, can anyone confirm that her old visa is certainly valid? Is it possible to have two valid visas at the same time???? When she applied, she was expecting to be issued with a visa starting from November and her old one to be cancelled. Now we are really confused!
I'd really appreciate someone who is familiar with these matters to respond ASAP as I don't want her to encounter any problems once at the airport. Thank you.

She's got approval to come here so I can't see it being a problem.

Which visa did she apply for?

Boobaaa · 20/11/2019 12:55

The same as the old one: standard visitor visa (2 years)

You can't have two visas at the same time, the second cancels the first. However I'm not totally sure how it works if they are consecutive.
Might be worth searching for the immigration boards forum elsewhere on the internet and ask there.

You can contact them there to ask directly. Not sure how long it'll take but worth a try?

Thanks mouse, although 5.48 pounds just to answer an email and 1.50a minute for phone is taking the Mick!

QuestionableMouse · 26/11/2019 13:48

Wow yeah that is.
