CAFCASS letter only being provided to court

Had my first CAFCASS telephone interview yesterday. The lady seemed okay and told me my ex had made no allegations against me. He was abusive towards me and my son. It was awful and I've been to hell and back.

The CAFCASS lady said due to the report, she will be keeping it confidential and sending it to the court only. So myself and my ex will not receive a copy. She said not to worry as I already know what's in it as it's based on what I've told her.

Silly me in my stressed out state didn't ask why exactly this was the case. Is this because there's a safeguarding issue? Or because she's worried about what he would do if he read it before court? I'm really nervous and not sure what to expect.

I was told the same by the cafcass lady, she said she had the full measure of my ex and she didn't want to release the letter prior to court as she said it could result in him 'taking action' (dv and all the other lovely stuff that comes with it) that might put me and dd at risk. Could it be that?

She went ahead and sent it anyway before court Hmm

Sorry, still half asleep, so yeah, could be as your suggest in your last paragraph.

holikka · 22/06/2019 08:33

@bobbybella awful that she sent it anyway with concerns like that.

It could possibly be that yes.

Yep, well in some ways I was glad as I got to see what bullshit he had spouted... would have been comical really if it wasn't so serious.

Nethertheless he didn't bother turning up to court anyway, and I got all the orders I asked for.

Good luck!
