Absent Ex Husband pay 1p a week child maintenance. Can I go for some custody?

Daughter is 13.
No contact for 8 years with her dad, we got back in touch to give him a chance, it went sideways as I warned my daughter it could.
He changed his child support contribution to 1p a week and it's been that way since March last year.
Does he really have parental responsibility and if so what are my chances of get sole responsibility? Also what are the costs involved?

I could do with changing her name too. We just want him out of our lives forever now. We're both done with him...

Is he on the BC? If so, you will need his permission to name change and give up his rights

Personally I would just change her name at school in the first instance so that gcse certs are in a particular name. I think if you go to gov.uk you can do a deed poll but I suspect you'd need his permission before she is 18.

I don't know about the rest, but isn't sole custody effectively what you have?

If you were married to him he has PR and it cannot be removed.

If you were not married to him but he is on the birth certificate, or he gained PR through a court order or a parental responsibility agreement he has PR. It can, in theory, be removed by court order but it is unlikely you would succeed.

If he has PR you cannot change your daughter's name without his consent. That includes changing her name informally at school, using a "known as" name or similar. Guidance to schools is clear that they must only allow a child's name to be changed if there is either a court order or clear evidence that everyone with PR has consented.

How can he change his own child support contribution? Can’t you chase him to pay the correct amount?
