Lawyers, what charity work do you do?

I am a solicitor. I have a few hours a week spare and I would love to do some charity work. The issue is, I can only do after-hours and from home (or maybe office or commute).

Is there anything I can usefully do in the evenings? How did you get your charity role?

I do three pro bono clinics, and feel that that's one of the most helpful thing I can do for my local community. I do two through a local charity during office hours, and the CAB after work.

My firm supports me, and some other fee earners do similar.

Trustee of a children's hospice. Board meetings are in the evenings.

I used to do a drop in law clinic with a drugs charity and work with a local youth club that was aimed at young people excluded from mainstream schooling. Changed where I work and had a baby since which makes it tricky but I loved both.

The local CAB send us people for free advice sessions. We take it in turns to cover them.
