Do I have to tell my ex who my solicitor is?

Hi all

A solicitor is drafting the court documents for me for my consent order.
Do I have to tell my ex which solicitor I'm using?

She is sending me the consent order so I can forward it to my ex. I'll then return the signed copy to the solicitor so there's no reason he needs to know.

Am I allowed to keep which firm I'm using a secret?

No reason they need to know.

Thank you

Can I ask why you need/want to keep it secret?

My ExH is doing the same - won’t name the solicitor he is clearly using (and referencing during mediation), and I do wonder why.

Some people don't want to pay for their solicitor to get involved like that.

Basically as collaborate said. Any extra contact my ex makes with the solicitors will involve more costs, letters, time spent on phone calls etc. I'd rather keep it a secret and there's no way to run up extra costs.

Can you not instruct your solicitor to ignore any communications?

What would be the point of that? OP doesn't want to incur any additional costs.

The point to make to the other side is that OP is no longer instructing a solicitor. If she wants to go back to them for advice on an as needed basis she can do so without informing anyone else.
