Contract terminated by employer - advice about lease car

Hi I have another thread on relationships about my situation. Basically I have been sacked by my employer (NHS) through I’ll health.
I have a lease car and nobody seems to be able to tell me what is happening regarding the early termination fee. The car is going back on Thursday. As my employer terminated my contract and I didn’t who is liable for the cost?
If they take it from my payment in lieu of notice it’s a sizeable chunk. I’m worried but wonder if anyone has any knowledge of a situation like this?

The liability is with whoever leased the car. If you leased it personally it will be you. If your employer leased it, it will be them (although most employers just hang onto the car and give it to a new employee rather than send it back).

I’ve found the policy online for my organisation. It states that in the event of a contract being terminated through ill health (as mine was) early termination of cintract costs will not be paid by the employee.
My only concern is that it was last updated in 2012 but I can’t find a more recent version.
