Is it possible to find out who is financing legal representation for an individual?

If a law firm has been hired to represent someone; is it possible to find out who is paying them? The person accused holds a union position and has advised government. The allegations are sexual. The individual could not afford to instruct the very expensive law firm that is representing them independently

Where is the case up to? Everyone is entitled to "free legal representation" (i.e. Legal aid) in the police station and legal aid is also available for criminal matters in court dependant on public interest (will pass if sexual allegation) and their income.

How do you know the individual's finances? They may have a private income/an inheritance etc even if their salary you knlw about would not support the fees.

The firm may be doing the work pro bono for a number of reasons.

The union may be funding it.

He may have household insurance with legal cover.

Why do you think you have a right to know how he is funding his lawyer?

I suspect this is referring to the trans flasher.

I agree this is not just interesting - but material.

Sometimes i wonder who is paying for legal representation for some very unappealing individuals already in prison. The types who make all sorts of spurious complaints which for some reason get taken seriously and come to court, wasting a great deal of public money. I suppose there are lawyers who specialise in certain "issues" and those convicted of these, and also a number of anti-establishment ones.

Yy reservoir, i realise those are all options and there are many more. I want to know how the expensive lawyer is being financed.

I didnt say i was ENTITLED to know. Just that i WANT to know and whether there is a way of finding out

rice when i posted, i misundertood the situation. There isnt actually 'a case'. I dont even know if the police are investigating. A newspaper published the allegations. The evidence has been posted on Twitter. And the individual hired an expensive law firm to close down media using privacy law arising from Cliff Ricjards case

irma i am particularly interested to know if it is being financed by an organisation or a wealthy 3rd party

The individual claims to be VERY oppressed. Its therefore suprising to learn that they have access to such prestegious lawyers. Even when no charges have been brought against them
