Objecting to planning applications -scotland-ugly hotel planned to be built!

I am wondering if anyone reading has any knowledge or experience in going about objecting to the planning application process in Scotland?

They plan to build a huge and very ugly hotel near me which will cause several issues and I am going to object but wondered if any of you have experience or advice that could help me out with it?

No direct experience of Scotland. But have a look at the South Ayrshire website, it gives a good list of reasons for objection.

Keep your objections objective, ugly doesn't cut it, not in keeping with local architectural design is better.

As it's a hotel, maybe overlooking, increased traffic, odours, highway issues, infrastructure issues. Address each issue, stressing the impact on the local environment rather than on your individual property, then add a statement on the impact on your property.

From my experience in England, it's a tick box exercise. Also, talk to your local councillors they can be really helpful, get support from your neighbors so you present a united front, make sure that local objections are similar but not identical. If there are enough of you with similar objections, it may be worth contacting a planning consultant.

@Luckystar777 I'm a planner for a Scottish local authority. You need to object with planning reasons as officers can only look at those which are material considerations. This would be design, overshadowing, privacy, impacting sunlight or daylight of neighbouring properties, traffic reasons, affecting amenity of the area, ecological impact, parking, floods are some to name a few.

What is not a planning consideration is affect on a person's view and the affect on house prices. These wouldn't be taken into consideration.
