Ex agreed to being bought out but on completion date wouldn't

Hi,
Advice needed I'll keep it brief.

Split from ex due to domestic violence, we weren't married but together for over 10 years. I have remained in the jointly owned property with our children, ex not paid his half of mortgage for years. I offered to buy him out and he accepted as long as I completed in a month, I met the date he stipulated but he wouldn't complete and his solicitors have given no reason.

He's recently told our children that he is in debt, but how true that is I don't know as he has lied so many times to them over the years.
What can I do, as I just want a clean break

You would need to apply to court for an order for sale under the Trust of Land Act.

You could also perhaps use his debt situation to persuade him to accept a lesser amount, particularly if he needs to get his hands on the money urgently (although his messing around would suggest he's not bothered).
