Should husband revert to the court order?

My husband has a young son with his ex partner who has caused us both excessive grief and drama to the point of stopping all contact when it suits her, not allowing my step son to come on holidays, stopping overnight contact, hiding step son when my husband went to collect him, not allowing him to attend our wedding etc.

There have been 2 previous court cases and husband has now just applied for the 3rd. He has been trying to negotiate changes with his ex for over 8 months now but with very little progress. She has no interest in resolving matters and will just ignore emails or continuously say she is too busy. Husband attended mediation with her in October but not much was resolved. He agreed to let the court order run for a little longer which he did. He then tried negotiating again but she wasn't very responsive. He has been left with no alternative but to apply back to court.

Anyway what I want to know is, does he stick to the altered agreed arrangements (different from the court order) or revert back to the order now legal proceedings have started? His ex is now refusing to communicate so it is impossible to confirm arrangements which is why husband thinks it might be best to stick by the court order instead.

What do you think he should do?
