my nephew is in some trouble with police
back in 2012 he was charged with smashing up an old friends car, he wasn't convicted of this

however he has recently got into some trouble with a neighbour and police have passed on this information to his housing provider that he was charged with smashing up a neighbour car
it wasn't a neighbour it was an old friend and this person lived no where near him not even in the same borough

is it legal for police to pass on a charge when it is not a conviction?
