Can anyone legally minded advise me, I’m in a bit of a panic about this!!

My daughter had Saturday morning classes in spring term this year (a bit like musical instrument classes), we then cancelled those and moved to ad hoc lessons for summer term, (but the teacher often cancelled them)

The paper agreement we had said we had to give a terms notice to stop lessons

We told her in August that we weren’t going to do any ad hoc/pay as you go private lessons this autumn term. We paid her cash in hand and she didn’t give us an invoice after the end of the spring term.

But we told her in April that we were stopping the regular classes.

Now she’s chasing us for a terms ‘fees’ that she says we owe, but this is based on a term of regular Saturday morning classes.

So having not had regular classes since March, we have given more than enough notice not to be continuing with regular classes from September.

Now she’s threatened to take me to court

If you were entitled to cancel them on an adhoc basis I would struggle to see how she could demonstrate financial loss.

Thank you so much, that's reassuring!
