I was in an accident end of august 2016 minor damage no injuries
Both said the other went through a red light police took number said would look at cctv
Didn’t hear anything until January when police called me and said they wanted to come in to speak to them about it. Didn’t see them until mid feb when they showed me cctv which appeared to show it was my fault, fair enough. Tbh I would’ve challenged it but he said that would involve going to court and I couldn’t face that. They said would get sent in the post a letter with a fine and either 3 points or invite to driving awareness course.
After about a month hadn’t heard anything so rang DVLA and they just said oh these things can take ages, nothing on our system, just wait to hear. However it’s now been over 4 months since I saw the police and 10 months since the accident! Bit worried am somehow going to get in trouble, or have they somehow overlooked it and nothing will come of it? Slightly baffled!

They have 12 months from the date of the accident to charge you. Don't make any inquiries until the 12 months has passed!

Thanks! Just wondering with my insurance renewal I guess I can't say I've got points when I haven't (checked my license online it's clear ) but don't want to be accused of lying

You won't be lying. You will of course declare the accident.
